Pictures below. Felt good today and was properly flying. At about 15km took a huge chuck out of the rear sidewall. I had no tube. Was so lucky about 200m ahead a road crossing and a TP crew. They are not allowed to assist otherwise I am penalised. I accepted a 1 hour penalty and was given a tyre and tube and did a quick change. Not easy and grateful for strong tyre levers.
I then rode solidly trying to make up time. So grateful that I was feeling better today and really enjoyed myself. Days Video
Stage 4 was when the whole experience of Trans Portugal changed for me. After a hard day 3, a technical on stage 4 that could have taken me out of the race, I realised it wasn’t about the race but just taking in the experience of an amazing opportunity and event. I started riding for fun with other riders and just soaking it all up. With a slightly shorter stage it all was a sort of a rest day.
