TP Stage 3

To the top of Portugal 75km 2620m of climbing. Pic below, from hotel looking to where we are headed. Days Video

The 2620 climbing in 75km and average speed tells the story of a very hard day out. It was like doing two Tankwa Marino Monsters in one day. Hope to recover before tomorrow. On a stage race like this there is bound to be a difficult day. In one way I am pleased to finish day 3, always my first goal. But today was not a good day physically and mentally so had to work hard. My nutrition was also not perfect and went off course a few times. It’s amazing when you are tired how this affects you. When you ride solo as well, you need to deal with the ups and downs yourself.

As hard as it is, it is a stunning way to see the spine of Portugal. Organisers and riders are like family with lots of chats and banter. So very grateful to be here and to be able to do this adventure. Now bed and planning for tomorrow definitely calling.

Still smiling at start of day 3
Typical village always many flowers
Typical cobblestone village
Little chapels at all the cemeteries
Rural tracks and stone walls
Roman roads, this was a good one

Roman Roads – there were quite a few in various states of repair and steepness. Not always rideable

Phew! That’s quite a climb in one day! Those Roman roads look like a tough ride, but the history is fascinating. An extremely challenging day, hope you will have a good rest. Praying for you every day! Thanks for the updates, lovely to see!
